Abstract

Currently, there were only a few studies regarding the correlation between concentration of creatine kinase-myocardial band (CKMB), troponin T, hemoglobin, and electrolytes and acute stroke. This study aimed to understand the difference of mean concentration of CKMB, troponin T, hemoglobin, and electrolytes and their relationship with acute stroke. This was a cross sectional study using samples of 30 subjects who were selected with consecutive non random sampling. The subjects were acquired from acute stroke patients who were proven clinically and using computed tomography (CT) scan at Haji Adam Malik General Hospital. Demographic data were analyzed using descriptive statistic. The result showed that there were no difference in demographical characteristics between the subjects. In conclusion, there were no differences in mean of CKMB, troponin T, hemoglobin, and electrolytes in acute stroke. No correlation was found between acute stroke and concentration of CKMB, troponin T, hemoglobin, and electrolytes.

Reproductive health in Indonesia is still very poor, as evidenced by the still high maternal mortality rate (MMR). MMR decline was slow, as well as in the province of Central Java. The highest is in Brebes Regency which has as many as 53 cases of maternal decease. One of the causes of high MMR is the lack of reproductive health sensitivity of bride and groom candidates. The purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of counseling on bride and groom candidates knowledge and attitude related to reproductive health. This research is a quasi experimental research with pre and post test without control group design. The population was bride and groom candidates listed in KUA of Brebes Regency in July and August of 2017, with a sample of 100 pairs selected according to the inclusion criteria. The interventions in the form of a one-day course by KUA officers on reproductive health with Bride and Groom Candidates Reproductive Healt booklet and flipcharts as the tools. The data of knowledge and attitude are obtained by interviewing the bride and groom candidates. Analysis is conducted with Wilcoxon Match Paired Test. The results showed that there is a difference of bride and groom candidates knowledge and attitude before and after intervention (p <0,05), with mean value increased 2.58 points (knowledge) and 3,21 points (attitude). Recommended advised are the pre-marital program socialized by KUA officers is expanded and multiplication of the booklet as a tool for the officers in pre-marital courses implementation.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) patients require DM management for life. Research proved that good quality self-care behavior of DM patients in dr. Harjono Regional Public Hospital Ponorogo and in North Ponorogo Community Health Center were still low (28,6% in dr. Harjono Regional Public Hospital Ponorogo and 50% in North Ponorogo Community Health Center). Health care worker communication is related to self-care behavior of DM patients. Differences in hospital and community health center self-care behavior in the previous study results triggered a question on the differences in hospital and community health center workers communication. This study was conducted in 2017 and aimed to explain the difference of health care workers communication regarding DM management in hospital and community health center. This study used comparative research design with 32 respondents from dr. Harjono Regional Public Hospital Ponorogo and 31 respondents from North Ponorogo Community Health Center. The results showed that 78.1% of respondents in hospitals and 93.5% of respondents in community health center stated good health care workers communication. The Fisher’s Exact test found p value of 0.148 which meant that there was no difference in communication of healthcare workers in hospital and community health center. Most patients in both places suffered from DM for 1-5 years and required the same health care workers communication, therefore there was no difference in the communication of health workers in both places.

Abstract

Indonesia still faces a double burden of nutritional problems, especially in children. It is essential to promote balanced nutrition education to mothers of toddler years old. They are more familiar with “4 Healthy and 5 Complete” which has been replaced by “Balanced Nutrition Guidelines” (PUGS). This cross-sectional study aimed to assess the knowledge of mothers about 13 PUGS messages in East Lombok District. This study was conducted using quantitative approach and supported with qualitative data. Data was collected by interviewing 188 mothers, stakeholders, health workers, cadres and community leaders. Data was analyzed using logistic regression to determine which messages are correlated to nutritional status. The result shows that the majority of mothers do not understand PUGS. There is a relationship between mother’s knowledge with children’s nutritional status. Mother’s knowledge of consuming iron-containing foods, drinking clean and sufficient water are associated with children’s nutrition status. PUGS messages are better understood by health workers compared to mothers.

Abstract

Acceptor of contraceptive injection increased from 11.7% to 27.8% since 2010-2013. Contraceptive injection of Depo Medroxy Progesterone Acetate (DMPA) is given every 3 months by intramuscular. The long-term use of 3-month contraceptive injetion for more than two years can cause side effects such as menstrual disorders and decreased libido due to accumulation of progesterone hormone in the body that suppressed estrogen effect. This study aimed to analyze the association in long-term use of 3-month contraceptive injetion with menstrual disorders and decreased libido in Puskesmas (Primary health care) Puri, Mojokerto Regency in 2016. The study was observational analytics with cross sectional approach with sample 73 contraceptive acceptors. The data were analyzed by using univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis with logistic regression and multivariate general model. The results showed that the duration of use of 3-month contraceptive injetion was significant with side effect of menstrual disorders (PR=0.142; 95%CI: 0.040-0.502) and decreased libido (PR=0.275; 95%CI: 0.100-0.756). Conclusion: menstrual disorders and decreased libido associated with the duration of use of 3-month contraceptive injetion.

Abstract

Imminent abortion is the first stage abortion and a threat of abortion. Most of the studies stated that the incidence of abortion is 15-20% of all pregnancies. Complication in imminent abortion is bleeding or infection which can cause mortality. The objective of this research was to analyze the relationship of parity and maternal illness with the incidence of imminent abortion. The research used observational analytic study with case-control design. The samples were 100 participants. The data were analyzed by using univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with chi square test. The result of the bivariate analysis with chi square test showed that there was significant association of parity (p=0.0001) and maternal illness (p=0.0001) on the incidence of imminent abortion. It is recommended that health care providers can detect abortion earlier and also provide counseling for pregnant women about imminent abortion.
